Ecosystems in the classroom

4th grade is such a great time for students to learn about the Earth and how nature provides for all living organisms.  In science, each student creates an ecosystem out of soda bottles.  Right now, we have the bottom half of our ecosystems complete.

The bottom of the ecosystem is the aquarium, which means that students observe mosquito fish, snails, and aquatic plants as they learn about the food chain/food web, animal adaptations, the water cycle and more!   Check out the Kid Blogs link on the right to find out what the kids have to say about their ecosystems.

  1. Hi Mrs. DiBattista! I would like to ask you if on Monday it would be okay if I switched my fish into Rowan's tank because I am allowing her to take my fish home since I do not want it. Would that be okay?

  2. Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I
guess I'll just sum it up what I had written and say, I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but
I'm still new to everything. Do you have any recommendations for newbie blog writers?
    I'd genuinely appreciate it.

    1. hi, thank you for the blog compliment. The only advice I have is to tackle a little bit at a time, add things that you are going to stay current with. Right now I have TOO many blogs, so this one takes a back burner to the kidblog accounts that my students actually work from.
If you are starting blogs for students make sure you have a good system to moderate comments as I've received many more questionable comments than honest, true interested educational comments . Good luck and let me know when you're up and running. I couldn't access the site above, thanks. Kelli
